Dr. Carl B. Davis is completing his
15th year of teaching and 10th year as director of
Decatur High School Choruses. Born in Decatur and educated in Decatur City
and Limestone County Schools, he transferred to the University of
Mississippi from Calhoun Community College in the fall of 1985. He completed the
Bachelor of Music in December 1987. He entered Austin Peay State University
in Clarksville, Tennessee, and earned a Master of Music in December 1988.
Then, he reentered the University of Mississippi in January 1989 and
completed all course work for a doctoral degree in music the summer of 1991.
He then accepted employment in Natchez Public Schools and Jefferson County
Schools from 1991 - 1996, then accepted employment with Decatur City Schools
in the summer of 1996. In the spring of 1999, Mr. Davis completed his
dissertation and received the Doctor of Arts degree in Music Education and
Vocal Pedagogy. He was chosen as Decatur High School and Decatur City
Schools Teacher of the Year for 2000. He and his wife, Beth, have two
children–Emery who is eight, and Ellen who is five. They reside on a farm in Leggtown in northwest Limestone county.
