Decatur High School Choral Department strives to develop students into productive citizens. Success in our program leads to success in life.
- Approximately 20% of the student body participates in one of our four choral ensembles.
- 20% of the National Honors Society Members are also chorus members
- 38 members are in the PreDP or IB Diploma Program
- 37% of chorus members are on the "A" or "AB" Honor Roll
- 48% of the students on the "A" Honor Roll are Chorus Members
Since 2006, when the current seniors were freshman, Decatur High Choruses have received:
- 29 overall superior ratings (I) at District and State Choral Festivals
- 1 Excellent (II) rating at District and State Choral Festivals.
- 88 Superior Ratings in Sightreading out of 91 Sightreading auditions since 1998.
For the last 9 years, all choruses have qualified for State Choral Festival, never rating anything but superior in a sight reading audition.
