Beginning his 20th year of teaching, Dr. Carl B. Davis has been the choral director at Decatur High School for the past 15 years.
Born in Decatur and educated in Decatur City and Limestone County Schools, he transferred to the University of Mississippi from Calhoun Community College in the fall of 1985 completing the Bachelor of Music Degree in December 1987. He entered Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee, and earned a Master of Music in December 1988. Then, completed the Doctor of Arts Degree from the University of Mississippi.
After completing all course work for his doctoral degree, he accepted employment in Natchez Public Schools and Jefferson County Schools from 1991 - 1996, then accepted employment with Decatur City Schools in the summer of 1996.
In the spring of 1999, Mr. Davis completed his dissertation and received the Doctor of Arts degree in Music Education and Vocal Pedagogy. He was chosen as Decatur High School and Decatur City Schools Teacher of the Year for 2000. He, his wife, 6 goats, 7 cows, 2 cats and two children live on a farm in Leggtown.
